Devotional 277: Entering the Ark

Genesis 7:1; Psalm 46:1; John 10:9; Hebrews 11:7

The Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.” This was the critical moment — Noah and his household had to enter the ark to be saved. God’s command was not “go in” but “come in,” indicating His presence was already in the ark.

Experiencing Christ Commentary shows that the ark typifies Christ. To “enter the ark” means to enter into Christ, God’s appointed refuge from judgment.

Noah’s righteousness was not his own merit but a righteousness by faith (Heb. 11:7). Because of this, he and his whole household were preserved.

This verse highlights a principle: salvation is not automatic. It requires a step of faith — entering into Christ. Today, to be saved from God’s judgment, we must believe into Christ and abide in Him as our ark of safety.

Main Points:

  • Noah’s righteousness by faith gave him access to salvation.
  • The ark signifies Christ as the only refuge from judgment.
  • God calls us not to self-effort but to enter into Christ.

Cross References:

  • Psalm 46:1 – God is our refuge and strength.
  • John 10:9 – I am the door; by Me you will be saved.
  • Hebrews 11:7 – Noah prepared the ark by faith.
  • Romans 5:1 – Justified by faith, we have peace with God.
  • Colossians 3:3 – Your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Prayer Points:

Lord Jesus, thank You for being my ark of salvation.

Grant me faith to enter fully into You.

Preserve my household in Christ as Noah’s was preserved.

Lord, keep me abiding in You as my only refuge.

Thank You for calling me to come where You are, Amen.
