Devotional 221: Let There Be Light

Genesis 1:3; John 8:12; 2 Corinthians 4:6; Psalm 119:105

When God spoke in Genesis 1:3, “Let there be light,” light immediately shone into the darkness. This reveals the power of God’s word to dispel chaos, confusion, and death. Light represents life, truth, and the presence of God.

John 8:12 shows that Christ is the Light of the world, and 2 Corinthians 4:6 declares that God shines in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of His glory in the face of Christ. This is not just physical light but the divine light of Christ shining into our hearts.

Psalm 119:105 reminds us that God’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. The entrance of His word brings illumination (Psalm 119:130). Every time we open to God’s word in faith, His light dispels darkness and guides our walk.

Main Points:

  • God’s word produces light that overcomes darkness.
