Genesis 4:6–7; James 1:14–15; Romans 6:12–14; 1 Peter 5:8
God warned Cain, “Why are you angry? … If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if not, sin is crouching at the door.” Sin is like a beast waiting to devour, but man must rule over it.
Experiencing Christ Commentary shows us that God always provides warning before judgment. Sin is aggressive, crouching at the door of our heart. But in Christ, through the Spirit, we are empowered to reign over sin rather than be its victim.
Main Points:
- God graciously warns before judgment.
- Sin crouches like a beast, seeking to dominate.
- In Christ, we can overcome sin and reign in life.
Cross References:
- James 1:14–15 – Desire conceives sin, sin brings death.
- Romans 6:12–14 – Do not let sin reign.
- 1 Peter 5:8 – The devil seeks to devour.
- Galatians 5:16 – Walk by the Spirit, not the flesh.
- Ephesians 4:26–27 – Do not give place to the devil.
Prayer Points:
Lord, make me sensitive to Your warnings.
Keep me from anger that opens the door to sin.
Empower me to rule over sin by Your Spirit.
Deliver me from the enemy crouching at the door.
Lord, keep me walking in victory daily, Amen.
