Devotional 232: God Saw It Was Very Good

Genesis 1:31; Ecclesiastes 3:11; 1 Timothy 4:4; Revelation 4:11

After completing creation, God saw everything He had made, and behold, it was very good. Evening and morning marked the sixth day. God’s verdict over His work is that it is perfect, beautiful, and in harmony with His purpose.

Ecclesiastes 3:11 declares that God made everything beautiful in its time. 1 Timothy 4:4 reminds us that everything created by God is good if received with thanksgiving. Revelation 4:11 exalts God as worthy because He created all things for His will.

Spiritually, this points us to Christ as the consummation of God’s creation, for in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:16–17). God delights in His creation, and especially in man as the crown of creation.

Main Points:

  • God’s creation is very good and harmonious with His purpose.
  • Everything is beautiful in its time and in God’s order.
  • Christ is the center and sustainer of all creation.
