Colossians 1:18 “And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.”
In God’s divine economy, Christ holds the central and preeminent position. God’s intention is to make Christ everything to the believers and to the church. This means that Christ is not only our Savior but also our life, our Lord, and our all. Recognizing Christ’s centrality aligns us with God’s purpose and leads us into a deeper experience of Him.
To experience Christ as central in our lives, we must allow Him to have the first place in all things. This involves submitting to His headship, seeking His guidance in our decisions, and prioritizing our relationship with Him above all else. As we do so, we come to know Him more intimately and are transformed into His image, fulfilling God’s desire to have Christ expressed through us.
Main Points:
- Christ’s Preeminence: Christ is appointed by God to have the first place in all things.
- God’s Economy: God’s plan centers on making Christ everything to believers and the church.
- Experiencing Christ: We are called to experience Christ as our life, Lord, and all.
- Submission to Headship: Submitting to Christ’s headship aligns us with God’s purpose.
- Transformation: Prioritizing Christ leads to transformation into His image.
Reflection/Activity:
Reflect on areas of your life where Christ may not have the preeminence. Consider practical steps to submit those areas to His lordship. Spend time in prayer, asking the Lord to deepen your experience of Christ as central in your life.
Prayer Confessions:

Help me to give Christ the preeminence in every aspect of my life.
Teach me to submit to Christ’s headship and seek His guidance daily.
May my relationship with Christ be my highest priority.
