The Joy of the Presence

Mark 2:19, “Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast

The Reflection: The Christian life is primarily a “wedding feast,” not a funeral or a religious ritual. The presence of the “Bridegroom”—Christ—is the source of our joy. While there is a time for discipline, the governing principle of our walk should be the enjoyment of His company. If our religious practices (like fasting or long prayers) become more important than the person of Christ, we have lost the essence of the faith. We are “children of the bridechamber” meant to feast on His love.

Practical Application: Check the “temperature” of your spiritual life today. Is it heavy with duty, or light with the joy of His presence? Take a moment to simply enjoy being with Him.

LUGANDA:

Okufumiitiriza: Obulamu bw’Ekikristaayo okusinga “mbaga ya mbaga,” so si kuziika oba mukolo gwa ddiini. Okubeerawo kw’omugole omusajja” —Kristo — y’ensibuko y’essanyu lyaffe.
