Devotional 283: God Remembered Noah

Genesis 8:1; Psalm 136:23; Luke 23:42–43; Hebrews 13:5

“And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark.” Even though the flood covered the whole earth, Noah was not forgotten. God made a wind pass over the earth, and the waters began to subside.

Experiencing Christ Commentary points out that God’s “remembrance” is not merely mental recall but covenantal faithfulness. When God remembers, He acts according to His promise.

He had told Noah He would preserve him through the flood, and now He faithfully fulfilled His word. The wind that passed over the waters signifies the Spirit moving to bring in new life and a fresh beginning.

This verse comforts us that no matter how overwhelming the waters of judgment or trial may seem, God does not forget His people. His remembrance is active care that brings us into a new stage of life.
