Genesis 7:4–5; Habakkuk 2:3; 2 Peter 3:9; Matthew 24:37–39
God told Noah that after seven more days He would send rain for forty days and nights. Noah obeyed all that God commanded. These seven days were a final period of grace before judgment fell.
Experiencing Christ Commentary reveals God’s longsuffering heart. He warned Noah ahead of time and gave humanity a final opportunity to repent. Seven days signify a complete time, showing that God’s patience is perfect but limited. When His time is fulfilled, judgment must come.
For Noah, this was a test of faith — waiting on God’s timing while the world carried on in its rebellion. For us today, it reminds us of the Lord’s patience in delaying His return, not because He is slow, but because He desires all men to repent (2 Pet. 3:9).
Main Points:
- The seven days signify God’s longsuffering patience before judgment.
- Noah’s faith was proven by obedience and waiting.
- God’s timing is perfect — judgment is certain, but delayed in mercy.
