John 6:35 “Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall by no means hunger, and he who believes into Me shall by no means ever thirst.”
Christ as the bread of life is the true food that satisfies the hunger of the human spirit. In the Old Testament, the manna provided to the Israelites in the wilderness was a type of Christ. Just as the manna was new every morning and sufficient to sustain the people, Christ is our daily supply, sufficient for all our needs.
Coming to Christ as the bread of life involves opening our hearts to Him and receiving Him daily through His Word and by the Spirit. Believing into Him means trusting in His sufficiency, allowing Him to fill the voids within us. When we eat of Christ, we experience satisfaction and nourishment, enabling us to live for His purpose.
Main Points:
– Christ as the Bread: He alone satisfies the hunger of our spirit.
– Daily Portion: Just as manna was gathered daily, we must come to Christ each day.
– Eating by Faith: Receiving Christ as the bread of life requires trust and dependence.
– Living by Christ: As we eat of Him, He becomes the source of our living and working.
Reflection/Activity:
Read John 6:22–35 and reflect on how Christ is sufficient for your daily needs. Pray for grace to come to Him each day as your bread of life.
Prayer Points:
Lord, I come to You as the bread of life. Satisfy my hunger and fill my heart.
Teach me to receive You daily through Your Word and by the Spirit.
Strengthen me by Your life to live according to Your purpose.
Make me one who lives by You as my source and supply.
Help me to share You, the true bread, with others around me, Amen.
