Matthew 11:28-30; KJV
[28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
John 4:13-14; TPT
[13] Jesus answered, “If you drink from Jacob’s well, you’ll be thirsty again, [14] but if anyone drinks the living water I give them, they will never be thirsty again. For when you drink the water I give you, it becomes a gushing fountain of the Holy Spirit, flooding you with endless life!”
Hebrews 4:9-11, TPT
[9] So we conclude that there is still a full and complete Sabbath-rest waiting for believers to experience. [10] As we enter into God’s faith-rest life we cease from our own works, just as God celebrates his finished works and rests in them. [11] So then we must be eager to experience this faith-rest life, so that no one falls short by following the same pattern of doubt and unbelief.
Matthew 11:28-30 contains a precious invitation from the Lord: “Come to Me, all who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” Christ Himself is our rest and satisfaction. When we come to Him in faith and dependence, He relieves us of our burdens and fills us with His life.
In John 4:13-14, the Lord speaks of living water that satisfies eternally. This living water is the Spirit of Christ within us, flowing to quench our deepest thirst.
Hebrews 4:9-11 reminds us that there remains a Sabbath rest for God’s people. This rest is not merely physical but spiritual, as we cease from our own works and enjoy God’s finished work in Christ. By faith, we enter into this rest, experiencing His peace and satisfaction daily.
Thought of the day/Main points – Christ invites us to come to Him for rest and refreshment.
