Devotional 82: Experiencing Christ as the Good Land—Our Portion

The good land in the Old Testament typifies Christ as our inheritance. This land, full of richness and variety, depicts the all-inclusive Christ who meets every need of His people. Each aspect of the land—its rivers, hills, wheat, barley, vines, and more—represents an aspect of Christ for us to enjoy and experience.

The good land flows with brooks and fountains, indicating the Spirit of life as a constant supply. The wheat and barley symbolize Christ as the incarnated One who experienced death and resurrection. Vines and fig trees represent the sweetness and satisfaction found in Christ. As we live in this land, we partake of its abundance, allowing Christ to be the source and supply of every part of our being.

To experience Christ as the good land, we must possess the land through faith and exercise our spirit to lay hold of Him daily.

Just as the Israelites labored to till and cultivate the land, we are called to labor in Christ, enjoying and applying His riches in our daily living. This experience will build us up into His Body and bring forth His testimony on the earth.

Lord, thank You for bringing me into the good land of Christ. Help me to explore and enjoy every aspect of Your riches.
Grant me the faith and diligence to labor in You, experiencing Your resurrection life and provision.
Open my eyes to see the sweetness and satisfaction found in You as the vine and fig tree.
Cause me to experience You as the Spirit of life, flowing in every part of my being.
Build me up with others in the Body through our mutual enjoyment of Christ as the good land, Amen
