Devotional 71: Living by the Son’s Death and Resurrection

The death and resurrection of Christ are the foundation of our Christian experience. Romans 6:4 reveals that through baptism, we are united with Christ in His death, putting an end to our old man, and in His resurrection, we are brought into the reality of newness of life. This new life enables us to live in fellowship with God and in alignment with His purpose.

Philippians 3:10 calls us to know Christ not only in His resurrection power but also in the fellowship of His sufferings. Living by the Son’s death means allowing the cross to work in us, dealing with our natural life, self, and flesh. Living by His resurrection means experiencing His divine life as our empowering strength to live a victorious Christian life.

Colossians 3:1 exhorts us to seek the things above, living a life oriented toward Christ’s heavenly position. This is the reality of living by the Son’s death and resurrection, transcending the earthly realm and participating in the divine, heavenly life.
