Devotional 56: Becoming Precious Stones through the Transformative Work of the Holy Spirit

God’s purpose is to transform His chosen people into precious stones for His building. In 2 Corinthians 3:18, Paul reveals that as we behold the glory of the Lord, the Spirit works to transform us from glory to glory. This transformation is not outward but inward, conforming us to the image of Christ.

1 Peter 2:5 calls us living stones, being built up into a spiritual house. Just as natural stones must be cut, polished, and shaped, we too are transformed by the Spirit’s work in our lives. The trials, dealings, and experiences allowed by God are His means to refine and polish us, making us clear and transparent like the jasper stone in Revelation 21:11, which reflects the glory of God.

As we allow the Holy Spirit to work within us, He removes the natural elements and replaces them with Christ’s virtues, making us suitable for God’s eternal dwelling place.

Thoughts of the day/Main Points:
– Transformation into precious stones occurs through the Spirit’s work.
– Beholding the Lord’s glory leads to inward transformation.
– Trials and dealings are tools God uses to shape us for His building.
– The ultimate goal is to become transparent, reflecting the glory of God.
– As living stones, we are being built into God’s spiritual house.

Prayer Confessions:
Lord, unveil my face so that I may behold Your glory and be transformed.
Use every trial and experience to shape me into a precious stone for Your building.
Remove my natural elements and fill me with Christ’s virtues.
Make me transparent and clear, reflecting Your glory in all I do.
Build me together with others as a spiritual house for Your dwelling, Amen.
