Devotional 169: Being Joined and Knit Together in Christ

God’s purpose for the church is that it would be a corporate entity where He can dwell. This dwelling place, however, does not come into being without the believers being joined and knit together in Christ. Just as the stones of a building are fitted and aligned, every member of the Body must be joined in life and built together in spirit.

Christ is the cornerstone, setting the pattern and foundation for the building. As we align ourselves with Him, we are fitted to one another. This fitting is not by our natural efforts but through the Spirit, who blends us and removes barriers like self, preference, and division.

The process of being joined and knit together may involve breaking and reshaping as the Spirit works to conform us to Christ’s image. This joining produces a unified and holy temple where God can be fully expressed and glorified.

Main Points:
– Christ as Cornerstone: Christ aligns and fits every believer into God’s building.
– Being Knit Together: The Spirit works to blend and unite believers into one.
– Breaking and Reshaping: Growth in the Body requires transformation by the Spirit.
– God’s Dwelling Place: The ultimate goal is a holy temple where God can dwell.

Reflections
Pray for the Spirit’s work in joining and knitting you with others in the Body. Seek reconciliation and oneness with fellow believers, allowing Christ to be the cornerstone in all your relationships.

Prayer Confessions:
Lord, align me with You as the cornerstone and fit me into Your building.
Blend me with others in the Body by Your Spirit, removing all barriers to oneness.
Work in me to break and reshape anything that does not match Your building.
Build us together as a holy temple, a dwelling place for Your presence.
May the church manifest Your glory as Your corporate expression, Amen.
