Devotional 151: The Crucified Life – Living for God’s Purpose

The crucified life is one of surrender, where we no longer live for ourselves but for the purpose of God. Christ’s crucifixion was not merely a historical event; it is a reality we are invited to experience daily. To live the crucified life is to deny our natural inclinations and let Christ take full control.

Paul declared that his life was no longer his own. This identification with Christ’s death brought about a complete transformation. Living in the crucified life involves putting aside personal ambitions and choosing the will of God in every situation.

As believers, we are called to surrender our preferences, desires, and even our rights to the cross. God’s purpose is that we would become vessels to express His life.

When we are crucified with Christ, we stop striving in our flesh and allow His Spirit to work in and through us. This produces a life filled with peace, purpose, and power.

Main Points:
– Union with Christ in Death and Resurrection: Being crucified with Christ means dying to self and living by His resurrection power.
– Surrender to God’s Will: The crucified life requires constant submission to God’s purpose over personal ambition.
– Living by Faith: The life we now live is sustained by faith in the Son of God.
– Bearing Fruit for God: The crucified life leads to a fruitful and impactful Christian walk, bringing glory to God.

Reflection/Activity:
Meditate on Galatians 2:20. Identify areas in your life where self is still ruling and surrender those to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to live His life through you.

Prayer Confessions:
Lord, grant me the grace to live the crucified life daily.
Teach me to deny myself and take up my cross to follow You.
Transform my natural desires into desires that align with Your purpose.
Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may live by Your resurrection power.
Let my life be a vessel that expresses Your will and glory
, Amen.
