Deuteronomy 11:10-12;
[10] For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs: [11] but the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: [12] a land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.
Isaiah 55:10-11;
[10] For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: [11] so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
John 7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Unlike Egypt, where irrigation depended on human effort, the good land is watered by the rain of heaven. This signifies God’s sovereign provision and His abundant grace.
In Isaiah 55:10-11, the rain is likened to God’s Word, which nourishes and brings forth fruit.
In the good land, we learn to depend on God’s provision rather than our own labor. The rain of heaven represents the outpouring of the Spirit, who flows within us as rivers of living water (John 7:38).
As we live in the good land, we experience the refreshing and life-giving supply of the Spirit, enabling us to grow and bear fruit for God’s glory.
Thought of the day/Main Points:
