Joshua 1:3-5,
[3] Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses. [4] From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast. [5] There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 4:9-11,
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. [10] For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. [11] Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
2 Corinthians 2:14
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
The good land is not only a land of blessing and nourishment but also a land of victory and rest. Joshua 1:3-5 assures us that the Lord will give His people victory over all their enemies in the land, and in Hebrews 4:9-11, we see that rest is a critical aspect of the Christian life.
Rest in the good land signifies a cessation of striving in our own strength and a deep peace in Christ’s finished work.
Rest is a land where we cease from our efforts to save ourselves and begin to enjoy the work Christ has accomplished for us. This is where victory is truly realized—not by our efforts, but through our trust in God’s power. Just as Israel conquered their enemies in the good land, believers today can live in victory through Christ, who leads us in triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14).
Thought of the day/Main Points:
– Victory and rest in the good land are part of our inheritance in Christ.
– Christ’s work provides the basis for our victory, and it is through Him that we enter into rest.
– We are called to cease striving and trust in Christ, who leads us into victory.
Prayer Confessions:
Lord, we thank You for the victory that You have won for us in Christ.
Help us to cease from our own efforts and enter into the rest You have provided.
We desire to live in the victory of Your finished work and not by our own strength.
May our hearts be fully at rest in You, knowing that You have conquered all our enemies.
Lord, teach us to live in the land of victory and rest, where we enjoy Your provision and strength, Amen.
