Devotional 286: The Earth Was Dry

Genesis 8:13–14; Psalm 40:2; Isaiah 65:17; 2 Corinthians 5:17

After more than a year in the ark, Noah looked and saw that the earth was dry. The ground, once covered in judgment, now appeared as new land ready for a fresh beginning.

Experiencing Christ Commentary shows that the drying of the earth signifies resurrection and new creation. The old world of sin and corruption had been buried; now a new world was ready.

For believers, this pictures our standing on Christ as resurrection ground. We have been brought out of death and chaos into stability and newness of life.

Main Points:

  • The drying of the earth signifies God’s new beginning.
  • Judgment buries the old creation, but resurrection reveals the new.
  • Believers stand on resurrection ground in Christ.
