Devotional 280: Entering with the Animals

Genesis 7:6–9; Job 12:7–10; Psalm 36:6; Colossians 1:16–17

At six hundred years old, Noah entered the ark with his family, and the animals came in pairs, as God had commanded. Even creation obeyed God’s call, entering the ark at the appointed time.

Experiencing Christ Commentary notes God’s sovereignty over creation. Just as Noah obeyed, so the animals obeyed by God’s hidden hand. This pictures the church life, where God gathers people of every kind into Christ.

It also shows that God’s salvation encompasses His whole creation, pointing to the new heavens and new earth.

Main Points:

  • Noah obeyed at the exact time God appointed.
  • Creation itself obeyed God’s sovereign arrangement.
  • Salvation embraces the whole creation, not only man.

Cross References:

  • Job 12:7–10 – All creatures testify of God’s hand.
  • Psalm 36:6 – God preserves man and beast.
  • Colossians 1:16–17 – All things created and held together in Christ.
  • Romans 8:21 – Creation will be delivered from corruption.
  • Revelation 21:5 – Behold, I make all things new.

Prayer Points:

Lord, keep me obedient to Your timing.

Help me walk into salvation with my household.

Lord, show me Your sovereign care in creation.

Preserve me as part of Your new creation in Christ.

Keep me in the ark of Christ with all whom You call, Amen.
