Devotional 255: The Mark of Cain

Genesis 4:13–15; Lamentations 3:22; Romans 6:23; 2 Peter 3:9

Cain cried out that his punishment was unbearable, fearing vengeance. God placed a mark on him to protect him from death.

Experiencing Christ Commentary shows that God’s government is balanced with mercy. Though sin deserves death, God delayed judgment to display His longsuffering. The mark testified of both judgment and mercy.
