Devotional 254: The Curse on Cain

Genesis 4:11–12; Deuteronomy 28:15–18; Isaiah 48:22; Galatians 6:7

Cain was cursed from the ground and condemned to be a fugitive. The earth would not yield fruit to him.

Experiencing Christ Commentary explains that sin makes man restless and fruitless. Without Christ, man becomes a wanderer with no peace. Only in Christ can the curse be reversed.

Main Points:

  • Sin makes man unfruitful and restless.
  • A life apart from Christ is a life of wandering.
  • Christ alone brings peace and rest.

Cross References:

  • Deuteronomy 28:15–18 – Disobedience brings curses.
  • Isaiah 48:22 – No peace for the wicked.
  • Galatians 6:7 – Sow and reap principle.
  • Matthew 11:28–29 – Rest in Christ.

Prayer Points:

Lord, save me from fruitlessness.

Deliver me from a restless, wandering heart.

Establish me in Your peace.

Make my labor fruitful in You.

Keep me rooted in Christ, Amen.
