Genesis 3:21; Isaiah 61:10; John 1:29; 2 Corinthians 5:21
God made garments of skin for Adam and Eve, replacing their fig-leaf coverings. This reveals that only through the shedding of blood can man be truly covered. The first sacrifice points to Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).
Isaiah 61:10 declares, “He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 shows that Christ was made sin for us so we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Main Points:
- Fig leaves cannot cover sin—only God provides true covering.
- The skins signify the death of a substitute, pointing to Christ.
- Christ is our righteousness and covering before God.
