Devotional 246: The Consequences of the Fall

Genesis 3:16–19; Romans 5:12; Galatians 3:13; Revelation 21:4

God pronounced judgment: pain in childbearing, conflict in relationships, toil in labor, and death as the return to dust. These are the bitter fruits of sin’s entry into the world.

Romans 5:12 says that through one man, sin entered the world and death through sin. Yet Christ became a curse for us (Galatians 3:13) to redeem us. In the new creation, all sorrow, pain, and death will be wiped away (Revelation 21:4).

Main Points:

  • The fall brought pain, struggle, toil, and death.
  • Sin’s consequences affect every aspect of human life.
  • Christ bore the curse to bring us into blessing.
  • In eternity, all consequences of sin will be removed.

Prayer Points:

Lord, redeem me from every curse of sin.

Lord, bear my sorrows and lift my burdens.

Fill me with hope of the eternal day with no more curse, Amen.
