Colossians 2:19 “Holding the Head, out from whom all the Body, being richly supplied and knit together by means of the joints and sinews, grows with the growth of God.”
The growth of the Body depends on holding the Head, Christ. To hold the Head means to remain under His authority and to draw from His abundant supply. The Body is richly supplied through the joints and sinews—believers who are channels of Christ’s life and nourishment to others.
When we hold the Head, we experience God’s growth within us. This growth is not individualistic but corporate, as the entire Body is knit together and supplied. The Spirit works through the connections among believers to build up the church in love.
Holding the Head requires submission to Christ and proper relationships with fellow members of the Body. Division, strife, or isolation disrupts the flow of life and hinders growth. Therefore, we must endeavor to stay connected to Christ and to one another in love and harmony.
Main Points:
– Holding the Head: Growth depends on remaining under Christ’s authority and supply.
– Rich Supply: Life flows through the Body via the joints and sinews.
– Corporate Growth: God’s growth occurs in a corporate, knit-together Body.
– Maintaining Connection: Division and strife hinder the flow of life.
