Devotional 157: The Crucified Life – A Life of Dependence

The crucified life is a life of absolute dependence on Christ. As branches depend on the vine for life and sustenance, we must rely entirely on Christ for our spiritual growth, strength, and fruitfulness. The cross works in us to strip away our self-sufficiency, bringing us into deeper union with Him.

Abiding in Christ means remaining in intimate fellowship with Him. It involves drawing from His life, moment by moment, for everything we need. The more we depend on Him, the more His life flows through us, producing fruit that glorifies the Father.

The crucified life is not a life of striving but of resting in Christ. It is a life of surrender, where we acknowledge that apart from Him, we can do nothing. This dependence is the secret to a fruitful and fulfilled Christian life.
