Devotional 18: Christ as the Living Stone

1 Peter 2:4-5 describes Christ as the living stone, chosen and precious, and believers as living stones being built into a spiritual house. This reveals Christ as the foundation and cornerstone of God’s building, which is the church. Here we explain that as living stones, we are joined to Christ and one another to form God’s dwelling place.

Ephesians 2:20-22 confirms that we are “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone.” This building work requires that we come to Christ continually, allowing Him to shape and fit us for His purpose.

Isaiah 28:16 describes Christ as a tested stone and a firm foundation. As we trust in Him, we are established and become part of His building work.
