Devotional 161: The Spirit as the Seal and Pledge

The Spirit is both the seal and the pledge of our inheritance in Christ. As the seal, the Spirit marks us as belonging to God, signifying that we are His possession. This seal is a testimony of our salvation and security in Christ.

As the pledge, the Spirit is the foretaste and guarantee of the full inheritance we will enjoy in eternity. The Spirit brings the reality of God’s life and promises into our present experience, giving us a foretaste of the riches to come.

This dual function of the Spirit as the seal and pledge reminds us of God’s faithfulness. He has secured us in Christ and given us His Spirit as a guarantee that He will complete His work in us.

Main Points:
– The Spirit as the Seal: The Spirit marks us as God’s possession.
– The Spirit as the Pledge: The Spirit is the foretaste of our eternal inheritance.
– God’s Faithfulness: The Spirit guarantees that God will fulfill His promises.
– Living in the Foretaste: Through the Spirit, we can enjoy the riches of Christ now.
