John 12:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”
The cross is not the end but the gateway to life. Jesus’ death on the cross was the ultimate act of self-sacrifice, leading to the fullness of life for all who believe. In the same way, when we embrace the cross in our own lives, we experience death to self and the release of divine life.
The analogy of the grain of wheat teaches us that death is necessary for multiplication. As long as the grain remains unbroken, it abides alone, unfruitful. When it falls into the ground and dies, its life is released, producing a harvest.
In our Christian experience, the cross works to break the outer shell of our natural life so that the divine life within can flow out. This breaking process may involve trials, challenges, and even suffering, but the result is the release of resurrection life. Through the cross, we are transformed and become vessels of life to others.
