Devotional 5: The Church as the Body of Christ

The church is not merely an organization; it is the living Body of Christ. In Ephesians 1:22-23, Paul describes the church as “His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” This means that the church is the expression of Christ on earth, filled with His life and glory.

According to our teaching approach, the church as the Body of Christ reveals the organic union between Christ and His believers. Just as a body cannot function apart from its head, so the church cannot exist apart from Christ. He is the Head, and we are His members, called to function in harmony for the fulfillment of God’s purpose.

Each believer has a unique role in the Body. When every member functions properly, the Body grows and is built up in love. This requires us to live by Christ’s life and to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
